About the Organisers

Kristu Jayanti College of Law (KJCL), affiliated with Karnataka State Law University and approved by the Bar Council of India, is dedicated to nurturing competent and ethical legal professionals for the global stage. Run by the CMI Fathers, KJCL is renowned for its progressive legal education initiatives such as moot courts, guest lectures by legal experts, and strong advocacy training.
The National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore, established in 1986, is the first national law university in India. It revolutionized legal education through the introduction of the five-year integrated undergraduate program and continues to lead academic innovation in the legal field through modern curriculum, research output, and strong links with the judiciary and academia.
The Centre for Environmental Law, Education, Research and Advocacy (CEERA) at NLSIU was founded in 1997 and plays a vital role in promoting environmental law awareness and research. CEERA partners with various governmental and non-governmental bodies to address critical issues in environmental law and human rights through legal advocacy and policy development.

About the Conference

Human rights are fundamental to any fair and free society, but the modern world presents complex challenges to their preservation. The International Conference on Human Rights, organized by Kristu Jayanti College of Law, seeks to encourage global engagement with contemporary human rights concerns. It aims to facilitate discussion on pressing global issues such as digital rights, migration, climate change, gender equality, and legal frameworks. The conference invites participation from legal professionals, scholars, students, activists, and policymakers to share ideas and solutions in support of human rights.

Conference Theme

The central theme, “Global Human Rights Narratives: Reinforcing in India and Abroad,” emphasizes the dual role of human rights discourse as a mechanism of continuity and a catalyst for transformative change across political, economic, and societal structures.

Major Sub-themes

  1. Digital Rights and Freedom: Topics include free expression, AI and ethics, surveillance, misinformation, and journalist safety.
  2. Climate Justice and Environmental Rights: Focused on corporate liability, indigenous protection, environmental refugees, and the right to a clean environment.
  3. Gender Equity and Social Justice: Covers reproductive autonomy, workplace fairness, political inclusivity, and anti-discrimination laws.
  4. Migration, Conflict, and International Law: Engages with war crimes, trafficking, refugee law, and UN roles.
  5. Economic Equity and Labor Rights: Discusses modern slavery in supply chains, migrant labor laws, and gender-based labor disparities.
  6. IPR and Human Rights: Explores access to medical care, indigenous intellectual property, and farmer rights.
  7. Governance, Institutions, and Human Rights Enforcement: Analyzes transparency, judicial autonomy, and corporate ethics.
  8. Women’s Leadership and Intersectional Rights Advocacy: Encourages systemic reform through women-led leadership.
  9. Entrepreneurship, Real Estate, and Ethical Development: Focuses on rights-conscious and sustainable business development.
  10. War’s Human Cost: Evaluates the effects of conflict on vulnerable communities and the quest for justice.
  11. Terrorism’s Shadow: Examines human rights concerns within anti-terrorism policies.
  12. Globalisation and Investment: Discusses foreign direct investment, CSR, and workers’ rights in global supply chains.
  13. Pandemic Pathways: Investigates the balance between health rights and privacy during pandemics.
  14. Borders and Belonging: Reviews refugee protections, migration laws, and border policy.
  15. Participants are welcome to present research papers, case analyses, and policy-oriented writings under these themes to broaden the conversation on human rights worldwide.

Call for Papers

Submissions are invited from legal scholars, practitioners, students, researchers, and activists. All papers must be original, and authors are required to include an anti-plagiarism report with their manuscript.

Submission Guidelines

Each paper can have a maximum of two authors. The total length must not exceed 5000 words. An abstract of 250–300 words along with five relevant keywords is required. Formatting should follow Times New Roman font: 12-point for the main text, 14-point for sub-headings, and 16-point for the title, with double spacing throughout. Referencing should conform to Bluebook 20th Edition for law-related papers and APA style for social sciences. Papers should be submitted via email to: lawconference@kristujayanti.com. Selected works will be peer-reviewed and may be published as book chapters with an ISBN, subject to additional publication charges.
