About The National Law University Tripura
Established in 2022 under Act No. 3 of the State of Tripura, the National Law University Tripura (NLUT) is committed to providing top-tier legal education. The foundation was laid by the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, symbolizing a strong dedication to academic excellence. The Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court serves as the Chancellor of the university. NLUT offers a diverse range of programs including a five-year integrated B.A.LL.B. (Hons.), LL.M., and Ph.D. Admissions to the B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) and LL.M. programs are conducted through the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT).
About The Event
NLU Tripura is pleased to launch the 2nd edition of its national-level essay writing contest, Likhawat 2.0. The theme this year, “Hamara Samvidhan, Hamara Swabhiman” (Our Constitution, Our Pride), pays tribute to India’s 75th year as a Republic and celebrates the adoption of the Constitution. This initiative is a part of the Department of Justice’s pan-India campaign to promote constitutional awareness and democratic values.
Eligibility
School students in Class 11 and 12 from any recognized board are eligible to participate. College/university students enrolled in Diploma, Undergraduate, or Postgraduate programs at any recognized institution may also register.
Theme
Participants must write on topics related to the theme “Hamara Samvidhan Hamara Swabhiman” (Our Constitution, Our Pride). Any deviation from the theme may result in disqualification, as the judges have the authority to reject entries that do not align with the theme. The theme must be strictly followed.
Submission Categories
The essay word limit for school participants is 1000 to 1500 words, while Diploma, UG, and PG participants must submit essays between 2000 and 2500 words.
Prizes
For the school category: First prize is ₹5,000 and second prize is ₹3,000. For the university/college category: First prize is ₹10,000 and second prize is ₹7,000. All participants will receive certificates of participation.
Formatting Guidelines
Essays must be written in English and submitted in MS Word format. School-level essays should be 1000-1500 words and college/university essays should be 2000-2500 words. The main text must be typed in Times New Roman, size 12, with 1.5 line spacing, double-spaced, on A4 paper with justified alignment. Footnotes must follow the ILI citation style. Submissions must be original and unpublished; plagiarism beyond 15% will lead to disqualification. A plagiarism report (from Turnitin/Drillbit) must be submitted with the essay. Entries without a valid plagiarism report will not be evaluated.
Selection Guidelines
Essays will be judged on the basis of their relevance to the theme, originality, clarity of thought, research-backed analysis, and actionable recommendations. Judges will assess the effectiveness of proposed solutions and how well participants suggest ways for citizens to contribute to the constitutional cause.
Submission Guidelines
Participants must register using the provided link and submit their essays through the designated Google Form. Submissions will only be accepted via this mode. It is mandatory to follow all competition rules, or else the submission will be disqualified. English is the only accepted language, and essays must be in MS Word format. The required word count is 1000-1500 words for school students and 2000-2500 words for college/university students. Essays must be in Times New Roman, font size 12, with 1.5 line spacing, double-spaced, and justified. Citations should follow ILI guidelines. Original, unpublished work is expected, and plagiarism reports must be attached. The decision of the judges is final. Misalignment with the theme or other rules may lead to disqualification without prior notice.

Registration and Submission Deadline (Important Dates)
Registration deadline for both school and college/university participants is May 25, 2025. The final date for essay submission is June 15, 2025. However, participants can submit their essay any time before or on May 20, 2025, after registering. The results will be announced in June 2025 on the official NLUT website.
Registration Fees
The registration fee for school students is ₹100, and for college/university students, it is ₹200.
