About the National Human Rights Commission
Established on 12 October 1993, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) of India is a statutory body formed under the Protection of Human Rights Ordinance of September 28, 1993, and later empowered by the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993. The NHRC plays a vital role in safeguarding and advancing human rights, which are defined under the Act as the rights related to life, liberty, equality, and dignity of individuals, as guaranteed by the Constitution or international covenants enforceable by Indian courts.
About the Internship– Online May 2025
The NHRC is inviting applications for its “Online Short Term Internship Programme – May 2025.”
Eligibility
Students from across the country are eligible to apply, provided they meet the following criteria: those in their 3rd year or higher of a 5-year integrated postgraduate law course; students in the 3rd or final year of undergraduate programs; students enrolled in any semester or year of a postgraduate degree or postgraduate diploma course; and research scholars from any discipline. Applicants must have consistently scored at least 60% marks in Class XII and in all subsequent courses, including the ongoing one. The percentage derived from CGPA/SGPA must be clearly stated along with the formula used; failure to do so will lead to rejection of the application. Additionally, applicants must be under 28 years of age as of 1st April 2025.
Duration
The internship will be held over a period of two weeks, from 13th May to 23rd May 2025.
Work Timings
Daily working hours are from 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
Mode
The internship will be conducted in an online format.
Type
This is a full-time internship running Monday through Friday, from 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM. Applicants must ensure full-time availability during the internship period.
Stipend & Award
Interns who successfully complete the programme will receive a stipend of Rs. 2000. A certificate of participation will be awarded based on key criteria including attendance, punctuality, discipline, active involvement in online sessions, timely submission of a project presentation, project report, and a book review.
Last Date of Application
The deadline to submit applications is 05 May 2025 by 6:00 PM.
Documents Required
Applications lacking the following documents will be rejected: a Statement of Purpose (SoP) consisting of 250 words explaining the applicant’s interest in joining the NHRC internship, which will also serve as a selection basis; self-attested scanned copies of mark sheets from Class XII onward, including all semesters/years of the current course; and a scanned recommendation letter or email from the Head of Department, Dean, or Principal, as per the attached format.
