The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) was established under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987 with the objective of offering free legal aid to underprivileged and marginalized sections of society.
About the Internship Opportunity
NALSA offers an internship programme designed for law students from across India. This initiative provides students with practical exposure to the operations of NALSA and promotes a deeper understanding of various specialized legal service areas, thereby supporting the goal of accessible justice for all.
Mode
The internship will be conducted in an offline, physical format.
Roles and Responsibilities
Interns will be given access to reading materials, including NALSA’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), schemes, training modules, statistical data, and updates on ongoing initiatives. The programme also involves approximately 10 days of field visits to institutions such as the Delhi State Legal Services Authority, District Legal Services Authority, Legal Aid Defense Counsel Office, and National Lok Adalat. Additional visits include the Remand Courts, CAW Cells, DM Office, Mediation Centre at the Supreme Court, Supreme Court Library, and the Supreme Court Legal Services Committee. The internship concludes with an interactive session with the NALSA team and a group photo.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be students enrolled in either a Three-Year LL.B course or a Five-Year Integrated Law programme at a recognized law college or university. Priority will be given to second and third-year students of the Three-Year course, and fourth and fifth-year students of the Five-Year course.
Stipend
No monetary compensation or stipend will be provided for this internship.
